Meet the Staff
The Rev. Canon Martin Eppard is the founding pastor of The Church of the Good Shepherd. He and wife Gwyn have four Children and one grandson and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. Father Eppard is a former Howard County Police Officer and he serves as a Police Chaplain. In addition to his duties in the parish, he teaches Theology and Church History at St. Michael's Seminary and taught church history at Mt. de Sales Academy. Father Eppard received a Diploma in Biblical Studies from Elim Bible Institute. He holds a BA degree in Religion and Philosophy from Western Maryland College, an MA degree in Theology from St. Mary's Seminary & University, A Master of Ministry degree from Holy Trinity Seminary, and the Doctor of Ministry degree from St. Michael's Seminary.
Gwyn Eppard is also a graduate of Elim Bible Institute as well as nursing school. She is is the mother of four, a singer/songwriter and poet, and has a heart for missions. Gwyn recently completed a mission trip to China.
Father Terry Murphy is Married to Dale and has two sons and one daughter. He has an Associate's Degree in Business and is a Certified Scuba Diver. Father Terry was the Vice President of District 6 Local 2100 AFL-CIO and retired in November 2002 after 31 plus years as a lineman for Verizon. Father Terry has had Seven plus years of inner city street ministry in South Baltimore . He is currently leading Christ the Redeemer Church/Outreach Ministries in Pigtown section of South Baltimore . Father Terry became a Commisioned Minister for Evangalism in the CEC - November 2002, graduated from St. Michael's seminary in January 2004, was ordained to the Deaconate in May 2004, and ordained to the priesthood in May 2007. Father Terry also serves as a Chaplain for Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company and a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Jarretsville Volunteer Fire Company.
Dale Murphy works along side of her husband Terry as they minister to the people of Pigtown in South Baltimore.
Fr. Dean Schultz has ministered throughout the body of Christ in the United States and abroad as a preacher, worship teacher, and psalmist at churches, conferences, retreats, and schools. He is the founding director of Worship Equippers for Christ, an interdenominational mission’s ministry committed to helping equip 21st century Christians to experience life transforming worship that advances the Kingdom of God into the nations of the world. His wife Glorianne is a gifted teacher, counselor, and musician who also enjoys serving in the marketplace as a real estate professional.
Prior to founding Worship Equippers the Schultz’s served on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in Washington D.C., Reel to Real Ministries and as church planters with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Annapolis, MD. Fr. Dean is a graduate of Washington Bible College in Lanham, MD.
Jean and Sub-Deacon Elias Marsh found the Church of the Good Shepherd in 2003 after moving to Maryland from North Carolina and visiting churches for six months. Elias is an architect and has been providing on-site construction administration for large bio-medical research facilities since his arrival in Maryland. He has a love for Christian Education, having taught in Pentecostal Holiness and Episcopal Churches in North Carolina. (All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17) In addition to having served in Christian Education, he serves as a lay reader, intercessor, sub-deacon, and on the Rector’s Council at Good Shepherd. He holds a Bachelor of Design degree and a Master of Arts in Architecture degree from the University of Florida, and is a seminarian at St. Michael’s Seminary working toward a Master of Ministry degree. Jean is an educational administrator having worked in community colleges and universities most of her career and is passionate about seeing people learn. She is currently Director of Continuing Education for a company that provides physical and occupational therapy services. Her ministries have been as an intercessor and in Sunday school for pre-school children, and has been appointed to the Charismatic Episcopal Church Working Group on Catechism and Christian Education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Journalism at Louisiana Tech University, a Master of Arts degree in Education at University of Southern California, and a PhD in Guidance & Counseling at Loyola University of Chicago. Their combined family includes 3 daughters and a son.
Steve & Barbara Abshire, Worship & Parish Administration. Steve is a professional jazz guitarist and teacher. He has played back up on numerous recordings and has several CD’s of his own www.steveabshire.com http://www.steveabshire.com/. He is retired from the US Navy Jazz Band, The Commodores and performs regularly in places like the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian. Barbara works at a local Christian bookstore and also as the Parish Administrator for our congregation. They have served as musicians for several churches and para-church ministries since the late 1980’s and as Good Shepherd’s worship leaders for the past eight years.
